A 31 piece wooden base 10 math manipulative, perfect as a learning aid for basic addition, subtraction, and place value. These are great for cementing mathematical thought in a traditional classroom setting, homeschool, or for tutoring and remedial math work.
These are FLAT boards and counters -- not cubes! This is shown specifically in the second picture.
Each "1" square is approximately a half inch (12mm) square, so the hundreds block is approximately 5 inches (12cm) square. All pieces are 1/8" thick.
Includes the following pieces, the perfect amount for one student:
Options also including adding 4 more 100's boards (for a total of 5), or adding 9 more hundreds boards (for a total of 10, to make 1,000!)
These manipulatives are lightweight and easy for kids to use. They are laser cut from high quality 1/8" (3 mm) thick 3-ply birch plywood.
The base 10 pieces are available finished with clear lacquer on both sides or unfinished. They are suitable for use unfinished, but will be a bit more durable with the lacquer finish.
If purchased unfinished, they may be painted, stained, and/or varnished without trouble. Some finish sanding may be required if you desire a very smooth surface.
When cutting wood with a laser, wooden edges are noticeably darker than the top and bottom. The darkening is fairly uniform and some people prefer the contrast. However, if you do not like the darker edges, they may be removed by sanding.
