An Hawaiian Island themed wooden puzzle featuring the main 8 islands of the Hawaiian Archipelago. The puzzle frame and pieces are made from quality 3-ply Baltic Birch plywood. This puzzle is well suited for children 2 years or older. The total size is 11.5 x 7.5" (29 x 19 cm).
Excellent for improving your child's sight recognition of the Hawaiian islands and dexterity as they put the pieces together. The puzzle could be a great way to share one's fondness of the Aloha State. The puzzle also works great teaching older children geography through the names and locations of the Hawaiian Islands.
Each of the 8 pieces includes a geographically accurate major Hawai'ian island, the island's name, and the islands' nickname. The spacing between islands has been modified slightly to make the distance between puzzle pieces workable.
The puzzle frame also includes an etched pineapple and compass rose.
The puzzle is etched and cut using a high powered laser. The results are then lovingly sanded, glued, edge routed, and finished by us. We are proud to have completed everything for this puzzle in house, to include designing the puzzle, cutting the pieces, assembling, and finishing.
The puzzle is finished using clear, Oil Based Polyurethane. The finish brings out the grain in the birch nicely, but will tend to lightly yellow over time with age. This light yellowing is accelerated by direct sunlight exposure but will not affect the puzzle's aesthetics or usability otherwise. The polyurethane should protect the wood for a long time from normal toddler/child wear and tear.
The edges of the puzzle frame are slightly rounded. This makes them less dangerous if flung across the room like a Frisbee by an overzealous toddler.
