A Great Lakes Basin themed wooden puzzle featuring the 5 lakes and 2 states that comprise the Great Lakes Basin of the United States. The puzzle frame and pieces are made from quality 3-ply Baltic Birch plywood. This puzzle is well suited for children 2 years or older. The total size is 11.5 x 7.5" (29 x 19 cm).
Excellent for improving your child's sight recognition of the Great Lakes, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Great for a toddler's dexterity as they put the pieces together. The puzzle could be a great way to share one's fondness of the region. The puzzle also works great teaching older children geography through the names and locations of the Great Lakes Basin.
A great supplement to the Classical Conversations Cycle 3 curriculum, since they learn about the Great Lakes in this cycle.
Each of the pieces is geographically accurate to the Great Lake or state it represents and includes the lake or state's name.
The puzzle frame also includes an etched compass rose, the Canadian Flag, and Ontario. The US flag is contained on the Wisconsin piece. Lake St. Clair is depicted, but is too small to make its own piece (sorry if you are an avid Lake St. Clair fan!).
Each puzzle features the following 6 pieces:
The puzzle is etched and cut using a high powered laser. The results are then lovingly sanded, glued, edge routed, and finished by us. We are proud to have completed everything for this puzzle in house, to include designing the puzzle, cutting the pieces, assembling, and routing.
This puzzle can be finished if desired to provide additional protection using polyurethane or other finishes.
The edges of the puzzle frame are slightly rounded. This makes them less dangerous if flung across the room like a Frisbee by an overzealous toddler.
