A Periodic Table of Elements puzzle representing the basic chemical elements as best understood by modern science. Perfect for introducing the periodic table in a classroom setting, at home, or in a tutoring environment. Includes 128 interlocking pieces made from 2-color acrylic.
The puzzle is 27" x 14" (69 x 36 cm) when fully assembled and comes in a stout 6 x 9 x 2.2" (5.6 x 1.5 x 2.3 cm) box.
Each piece includes the name of an element, the atomic index, the approximate atomic weight, and the standard element abbreviation. The pieces are color coded based on their element family to further subdivide the periodic table. Each element is an individual 1.5" (3.8cm) square, making it easy to read and manipulate each element.
The 10 families are represented by different colors and contain a title or tag piece. The groups of families vary some depending on source, but the following were used on this puzzle.
- Alkali Metals
- Alkali Earth Metals
- Lanthanides
- Actinides
- Transition Metals
- Post-Transition Metals
- Metalloids
- Nonmetals
- Halogens
- Noble Gases
Chemistry has come a long way since the original periodic table was proposed by Dmitri Mendeleev in 1869.
